Tasks:

Our task was to design and develop an irrigation technical webshop, which is able to cooperate with the storekeeper software already working in the specialty store, to serve a large number of online customers and to create online price quotes for the gardening resellers, expanded with complete irrigation system designer service.

Implementation:

The phase of designing the procedure and the system was followed by the configuration of the database structure. After this we continued with the development/configuration of the administrative surface (backEnd) of the webshop, which was implemented with the help of the Viola™ system. The administrative (CMS) surface provides the dynamic management of the webshop’s textual and visual content, including the management of product database, registered users and priority distributors, being the backbone of the webshop.

The development of the webshop’s website, i.e. the frontEnd, happened according to the requirements of our customer and the plans of the graphic designer. Processing the data of the storekeeper software operating in the specialty store guarantees that the webshop will always display the information of the current product list! The site was created in a way so that every user could easily select the required products, putting them into the shopping cart and order them.

The site is working with series of advanced features for users having priority distributor status.They have a complete irrigation system designer available, which is using the products of the webshop. In the designer section the distributor can prepare unique plans for their own customers. Entering/choosing the attributes of the customer’s garden – with the help of a wizard – they can assemble every element of the system. Finally, the distributor can prepare the design of an irrigation system, with the help of which you can calculate the water consumption of the irrigation of the garden in advance (with 99% accuracy), since the website stores the exact data of water consumption of every product.

Using this designer makes it possible to assemble a specific irrigation system choosing its components in the best optimized way, supporting cost-effectiveness. Distributors can save the finished designs, as well as copy and paste them into price quotes. They can also organize the stored price quotes in project groups.

Designing and programming the webshop, project and price quote editor as well as the irrigation system designer pages (User Interface), our aim was to enhance user experience, including the speed/aspect/utility of the system’s operation. The speed of the system is guaranteed by the optimization of the computationally intensive operations on server-side and the database operations. Fast operation is secured by AJAX technology, using the latest client-side JavaScript framework, towards optimizing the flow of data across the network.
